The decision was made to postpone the event. While we have snow and more coming, the course would not be race-ready. A winter storm watch has been issued for this area, with snow starting Saturday midday and increasing into the afternoon. By Sunday, we may be in Blizzard conditions. Good to get the snow, but… Continue reading Quad Ski Race postponed.

Thursday Evening
More snow came during the day… The bulk of the trails Lodge side are rolled… And we are closed until Saturday and you will probably ask why… This is a fragile time to let the base freeze and set up… We will have more snow between now and Friday night…it’s cold and we want to… Continue reading Thursday Evening
Update Thursday Morning
We have two foot drifts, wind swept areas, snow fence in the field working splendidly and two groomers packing the first trails on the Lodge Side. Wilderness Lodge will be open this weekend with a whole bunch of work between now and then. Yea!

January 7th …maybe
The National Weather Service from Buffalo is predicting a turn into winter late Tuesday with Lake Effect Snow to follow. If we can get a freeze followed by a real storm, there could be skiing at Wilderness this weekend. In other news, we are planning to have the torch-lite skiing on Friday nights. Ready…Set….
Christmas Week
First…A belated Merry Christmas to one and all. And a Happy New Year! That being offered with all sincerity, it is still a test for a small business to be completely closed during the period which represents a good portion of the seasonal income. We are getting many calls from interested people to check on… Continue reading Christmas Week
December 9. Not enough snow to groom.
We are white but the ground is still warm. The Lodge could use a good deep freeze then more snow. It is still early so we are hoping for the best.
The Hunter
Wilderness Lodge is not open during deer season. With early snow, ski condition could be excellent-groomed wide and fast. In the over forty years since our opening, we only skied once during deer season and it was almost a disaster. We had groomed close to the lodge…just into the woods, left toward Swamp Fox and… Continue reading The Hunter
