Due to the weather, our trails will be closed to all users until further notice.
Old Man Winter is still being facetious and teasing us with mere glimpses of the season to come. For now, we’ll be closing the trails until we get more snow. In the meantime, we’ll take advantage of the warmup to continue working on the trails. There were a number of downed trees and debris from the strong winds that came through last week, so we’ll be out clearing the trails while they’re easily accessible.
Even with less than perfect conditions, we had a fantastic couple of days of skiing this week. We saw many old friends, along with a number of new skiers that were laughing and having fun. Though ungroomed, almost all of our trails were accessible and the shallow, dense snow created a surface that quickly packed down for successive skiers to explore.
By late afternoon yesterday, the conditions were reminiscent of the best days of spring skiing: the snow hadn’t yet turned to slush, but the world was waking up after a deep freeze: deer and small animals abounded along the trails, the frozen trees were popping and creaking as warmer breezes sauntered over the hills, and the sun (combined with temperatures above freezing) even saw some skiers zooming around in t-shirts. Enjoyable as it was, our season is just beginning and we’re not ready to see that spring weather again for a long time. THINK SNOW and do a little snow dance this week!
We’ll post again when we’re back open for skiing.
