This could be it…the end of our ski season…maybe.

As we write this, the temperature is nearing 60, the local weather forecaster is talking about snow coming and we are aware of a possible storm sweeping down from Wisconsin. We can still see snow in the woods .

Regardless, here are some notes… we want to recognize the many volunteers who gave their time to help others. This includes the coaches of the Wildcat youth ski program and our new Ambassadors who helped teach, offer advise and assistance to fellow skiers.

Thanks to our groomers, Nick and Lew, who worked hard in all kinds of weather, with many miles and hours spent on the trails to make our skiing the best experience possible.

This year, we opened the new winter nature trail thanks to students at Allegheny College who were under the guidance of Rick Bowden.

We were able to meet first time visitors to Wilderness Lodge from West Virginia, upstate New York, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and spent some time with our Columbus Ohio friends who have been coming for years. Our circle of skiers continues to grow.

Inside the Lodge, Ryan and his kitchen staff presented many interesting “home-made” dishes and the rooms were booked full most weekends.

Tuesday, I will be speaking to a class at Allegheny College on the economics of global warming on small business…a topic which we are intimately familiar.

Lastly, in the fall with the help of volunteers, we planted 200 trees and shrubs. We will do another planting on Saturday, April 16th starting at 11:00 am. We will also be going some light trail maintenance…i.e.picking up limbs from the spring winds. Please consider coming and let us know so we can manage an afternoon lunch. 814-720-5111.

Thanks,

Roger
