Friday-January 15th

Short version… Saturday for skiing with anything resembling good conditions is a bust. Snowshoes are a go. We have base, and may get another inch tonight. Saturday night forecast make Sunday and the days that follow look pretty good.

Long version…After working outside all afternoon, I opted to sit on the deck and watch the chickadees fly from the Apple trees from the lodge to the feeders before me. They are fearless.

I put some music on….Bob Segar..Against the Wind, the Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel, Norah Jones-Come away with me…all rather melancholy…fitting the winter mood hoping for more snow…showing my age….the wind changed and I could see my breath, it was getting colder and tiny flakes and the occasional rain drop lingered on my jacket. Freezing rain is better than rain. Hope…

Now I am listening to the Doobie Brothers…Long Train Running…Christopher Cross…Sailing…more upbeat….we have NOT lost the base…

The interesting part is that I know most, if not all, people reading this post feel the same. Collective lament is not the best attitude for the long haul. Sooo, I want to reassure you, this too will change.

When it does, come and we will have a collective smile!
