Our friendly gurus at the National Weather Service-Buffalo have predicted a storm starting late tonight and running into Thursday. They specifically mention the Chautauqua Ridge.
Wilderness Lodge sits a thousand feet over Lake Erie on the leading edge of the Chautauqua Ridge, which is what creates our “micro-climate.” The moisture laden air rises, cools, and then it snows.
The next question is “how much?” Buffalo cites 6 to 12 inches with snow showers prior to and after the storm.
Predictions elsewhere go up to 18 inches.
Either way, this snow is welcome.
It’s currently raining which means the ground underneath will wet. We will need sufficient snow to deliver a good surface. So… for now we are in a holding pattern and will report ASAP.
….better than 50% chance we will have something open…
